Labor targets Morrison in new attack ad

Labor has unveiled its first negative attack ad of the election, as the campaign nears the end of the second week.

The 30-second advertisement, which launched on Thursday on social media, focuses on Scott Morrison’s performance during his time as prime minister.

It’s expected the ads will run on TV later this week.

In particular, the attack ad zeroed in on Mr Morrison’s holiday to Hawaii during the Black Summer bushfires, as well as issues during the COVID vaccine rollout last year and lack of access to rapid tests during the height of the Omicron wave.

“No one gets it right all the time, but Morrison makes too many mistakes,” the ad says.

“Next time things go wrong, do you trust him to get it right?”

The ad launch comes the day after the opposition leader secured a narrow win in the first leaders’ debate.

Liberal attack ads have been in constant rotation on TV since the start of the election, focusing on the economic risk from a Labor government.
